How to sell tickets for your event

Selling tickets for something you're putting on comes down to four things. A price people understand, one link that works everywhere, a door that doesn't jam, and money that arrives. Here's how to get each right, whether it's your first night or your fiftieth, and how SendMeTheDrop does it with no ticket fees for your first three months.

1. Set the price

Work out your costs (room, sound, staff, food), divide by the number you can realistically sell, and round to a number that feels fair for the night. Then add an early tier, cheaper and limited, to reward the people who commit first. The early tier selling out is your best marketing.

Say what's included. Food, a drink on arrival, a set end time. Buyers forgive a price; they don't forgive a surprise.

2. One link, everywhere

Put one ticket link in your bio, your stories, your group chats and your posters as a QR code. On SendMeTheDrop, that link opens the drop with the tickets, and the drop also goes on the map for people nearby. A share kit in your own colours gives you the story, the post and the QR code.

On Instagram, the link in bio and the link sticker on stories do the work. Post the drop when tickets open, again when the early tier is nearly gone, and on the day.

3. Run the door

Send the door link to whoever's on the door. They open it on their phone, scan tickets or tick names, and it keeps working if the signal goes. No account, no app to install.

4. Get paid

Payouts go through Stripe to your bank. You set up payouts once, before your first ticketed drop goes on sale.

What it costs on SendMeTheDrop

No ticket fees for your first three months, for you or your buyers. After that a booking fee applies, shown on the pricing page and to buyers before they pay. Free events, with RSVP or guestlist, cost nothing.

Ticketed drops always show their location before anyone pays. See ticketing for small events for everything that's included.
