Workshops, classes and tastings in London
Some of the best evenings in London are spent learning something from someone who's good at it. A pottery night in a studio in Hackney Wick, a natural wine tasting in the back of a shop, a salsa class above a pub, a sound bath in a church. Most run once or for a few weeks, with a small group. They go on the map as workshops, with the area, the time and the price.
Workshops coming up
Updated 6 Oct, 17:20
Nothing’s on the public list in London right now. Organisers put new things on all the time, often only a day or two ahead, and the app tells you when something goes on near you.
What's out there
- Pottery and making. Wheel-throwing tasters, hand-building nights, print and textile workshops. Studios in east and south London run one-off evenings alongside their courses.
- Wine, beer and cocktails. Tastings in wine shops, breweries and bars, usually six to ten glasses with someone talking you through them. Cocktail classes where you make your own.
- Food. Tasting menus and chef's tables at supper clubs, cooking classes, fermenting and bread workshops. See supper clubs in London.
- Dance and movement. Salsa, swing and voguing classes, often with a social dance after. Yoga and sound baths in unusual rooms.
- Talks and skills. Life drawing, writing groups, DJ workshops, repair cafes.
Booking
Workshops are small, often eight to twenty places, because materials and attention are limited. Most are ticketed, and the price on the drop includes everything unless it says otherwise. Free ones are usually RSVP so the host knows numbers.
Check what to wear and bring. Clay and paint get everywhere, and dance classes need shoes you can move in.
Running one
If you teach something, put your next session on as a drop. RSVP for free tasters, tickets for paid ones, and no ticket fees for your first three months. Put it on the map.
